"You don't want your allowance?"
"당신은 용돈을 원하지 않습니까?"

"Here's your allowance," said Mom.
"여기 네 용돈이 있어." 엄마가 말씀하셨어요.

"Do I have to have an allowance?" asked Todd.
"용돈을 꼭 받아야 하나요?" 토드가 물었다.

"You don't want your allowance?"
"너는 용돈을 원하지 않니?"

"I want a commission," said Todd.
Todd는 "저는 커미션을 원해요."라고 말했습니다.

"A commission?" Mom looked puzzled.
"커미션?" 엄마는 어리둥절한 표정을 지으셨어요.

"We learned about it at school. It's like when a car salesman gets money for each car he sells. Instead of getting my five-dollar allowance, I'd get paid for each chore I do. I can make more than just five dollars if I work on commission.“
"우리는 학교에서 그것에 대해 배웠어요. 그건 마치 자동차 판매원이 차를 팔 때마다 돈을 받는 것과 같습니다. 5달러의 용돈을 받는 대신 나는 집안일을 할 때마다 돈을 받을거예요. 내가 커미션으로 일한다면 나는 단지 5달러 이상을 벌 수 있어요.. ”

Todd handed a piece of paper to his mom. "I even made a chore chart to show how it would work."

"Hmmm," said Mom. "These prices look fair to me.
I guess we can try this if you really want to."
During the next week, whenever Todd finished a chore, he placed a sticker on the chart. On Saturday, he showed his mom the chart. "Let's see," she said.
"You loaded the dishwasher four times, you folded towels two times, and you took out the trash three times. And that adds up to-"
"흠." 엄마가 말했어요. "내가 보기엔 이 가격이 공평해 보이는데.
너가 정말로 원한다면 우리가 이것을 시도해 볼 수 있을 것 같아."
다음 주 동안 Todd는 집안일을 마칠 때마다 차트에 스티커를 붙였습니다. 토요일에 그는 엄마에게 차트를 보여주었습니다. "어디 보자"고 그녀는 말했다.
"식기세척기에 네 번 물건을 넣고, 수건을 두 번 접고, 쓰레기를 세 번 버렸네. 그리고 그 합은-"

Maybe a commission wasn't such a good idea.
아마도 커미션을 받는 것은 별로 좋은 생각이 아닐 수도 있습니다.

"Only two dollars and twenty-five cents!" groaned Todd. "Can I just have my five-dollar allowance?"
"단지 2달러 25센트예요!" 토드가 신음했다. "용돈 5달러만 주시면 안 될까요?"

Mom smiled and shook her head. "You're the one who wanted to work on commission," she said, counting out Todd's earnings. "Let's see how you do next week.“
엄마는 웃으며 고개를 저었다. "너는 커미션 작업을 원한 사람이야." 그녀가 Todd의 수입을 세면서 말했습니다. "다음 주에 어떻게 지내는지 보자."

Todd sighed. He didn't know why he had thought a commission would be such a good idea. It didn't seem to be working out too well.
토드는 한숨을 쉬었다. 그는 왜 커미션이 그렇게 좋은 생각이 될 것이라고 생각했는지 몰랐습니다. 별로 잘 풀리지 않는 것 같았어요.

The next week, Todd did every chore listed on the chart almost every day. On Saturday morning, Todd ran to Mom with his chore chart full of stickers.
다음 주에 Todd는 거의 매일 차트에 나열된 모든 집안일을 했습니다. 토요일 아침, 토드는 스티커가 가득한 집안일 차트를 가지고 엄마에게 달려갔습니다.

Mom smiled as she looked at the chart. "This looks much better," she said. "Let's add it up."
엄마는 차트를 보면서 미소를 지으셨습니다. "이것이 훨씬 좋아 보인다"고 그녀는 말했다. "더해보자."

"I already did, Mom!" said Todd. "You owe me seven dollars and fifty cents!"
"나는 벌써 했어요, 엄마!" 토드가 말했다. "당신은 나한테 7달러 50센트 빚졌어요!"

"Are you sure you don't want me to give you your five-dollar allowance?" asked Mom.
"정말 내가 당신에게 용돈 5달러 주는 걸 원하지 않나요?" 엄마가 물었어요.

Todd laughed. "Nope. No more allowance!"
토드는 웃었다. "아니요. 더 이상 용돈은 없어요!"
