Rat-a-tat-tat!
라따따따!

Mole put down his broom and opened the door.
There stood Chipmunk.
두더지는 빗자루를 내려놓고 문을 열었습니다.
그곳에 다람쥐가 서 있었습니다.

"May I borrow a ladder, Mole?" asked Chipmunk.
"I want to finish cleaning my windows in time for our fishing trip."
"사다리 좀 빌려도 될까요, 두더지?" 다람쥐가 물었다.
"낚시 여행 시간에 맞춰 창문 청소를 끝내고 싶어요."

Mole looked at the jumble in his tunnel. He crawled past candles and cans and found a ladder.
두더지는 터널 안의 뒤죽박죽을 바라보았습니다. 그는 양초와 깡통을 지나 기어가다가 사다리를 발견했습니다.

"Thank you, Mole. It will be a wonderful afternoon for fishing when the cleaning is done."
"고마워요, 두더지. 청소가 끝나면 낚시하기 좋은 오후가 될 거예요."

"Yes," said Mole, "But my house is very hard to keep tidy.“
"그렇습니다. 하지만 우리 집은 깔끔하게 유지하기가 매우 어렵습니다."라고 두더지가이 말했습니다.

I should throw this stuff out, thought Mole as Chipmunk left. But what if one of my friends needs something?
다람쥐가 떠날 때 두더지는 이 물건을 버려야 한다고 생각했습니다. 하지만 내 친구 중 한 명이 필요한 것이 있으면 어떻게 합니까?

He was stacking oars against the wall when he heard a knock.
그는 노크 소리를 들었을 때 벽에 노를 쌓고 있었습니다.

Rat-a-tat-fat!
라따따따!

"Hello, Mole. Do you have a screwdriver?" asked Rabbit. "T'm spring-cleaning, and my mop handle has broken."
"안녕하세요, 두더지. 드라이버 있어요?" 토끼가 물었다. "봄 대청소 중인데 대걸레 손잡이가 부러졌어요."

Mole pushed past pots and potato peelers and found a screwdriver.
두더지는 냄비와 감자 껍질 벗기는 도구를 밀고 드라이버를 발견했습니다.

"Thank you, Mole. It will be a wonderful afternoon for fishing when my house is clean."
"고마워요, 두더지. 집이 깨끗하면 낚시하기 좋은 오후가 될 거예요."

"I'd love to join you, but I am still in quite a mess." said Mole,
"당신과 함께하고 싶지만 여전히 지저분하운 상태입니다." 몰이 말했다.

If only had more space, he thought as Rabbit left.
공간이 더 많았더라면, 그는 토끼가 떠날 때 생각했습니다.

He was sorting chair legs when he heard another knock.
그는 또 다른 노크 소리를 들었을 때 의자 다리를 정리하고 있었습니다.

Rat-a-tat-tat!
라따따따!

"Do you have a hammer, Mole?" Badger asked.
"My floorboards need repairing."
"망치 있어, 두더지?" 오소리가 물었다.
"내 마루판을 수리해야 해요."

Mole stepped past saws and springs and found a hammer.
두더지는 톱과 스프링을 지나가다가 망치를 발견했습니다.

"Thank you, Mole, It will be a wonderful afternoon for fishing when this last job is done."
"고마워요, 두더지. 이 마지막 작업이 끝나면 낚시하기 좋은 오후가 될 거예요."

"I think that I must finish cleaning instead," said Mole.
Badger left, and Mole tried again to clean his very cluttered house.
"대신 청소를 끝내야 할 것 같아요." 두더지가 말했습니다.
오소리는 떠났고 두더지는 매우 어수선한 집을 청소하려고 다시 시도했습니다.

It was too late for fishing when he finally stopped.
I will see if my friends are back, he thought.
그가 마침내 멈추었을 때는 낚시하기에는 너무 늦었습니다.
내 친구들이 돌아왔는지 지켜봐야겠다고 그는 생각했다.

When he stepped outside his tunnel, he saw a small wooden building that had not been there that morning.
He lifted the knocker.
터널 밖으로 나왔을 때 그는 그날 아침에는 없었던 작은 목조 건물을 보았습니다.
그는 문고리를 들어올렸다.

Rat-a-tat-tat!
라따따따!

The door opened, and out stepped Chipmunk, Rabbit, and Badger.
문이 열리며 다람쥐, 토끼, 오소리가 나왔습니다.

"We didn't want to go fishing without you." said Chipmunk.
"우린 너 없이 낚시하러 가고 싶지 않았어." 다람쥐가 말했다.

"If your house were emptier, your cleaning would be faster," said Rabbit. "But you always have just the things we need."
"집이 비어 있으면 청소가 더 빨라질 거예요." 토끼가 말했습니다. "하지만 너는 항상 우리에게 필요한 것만 가지고 있어요."

"So we built this shed for you," said Badger.
"그래서 우리는 너를 위해 이 창고를 지었어." 오소리가 말했습니다.

"Do you have some things we can help put away?" asked Chipmunk.
"우리가 치워두는 데 도움을 줄 수 있는 물건이 있나요?" 다람쥐가 물었다.

"I believe I do," said Mole, and he danced and leaped to his own front door.
"그렇다고 믿어." 두더지가 말하고는 춤을 추며 자기 집 현관문으로 뛰어갔습니다.
