Carl worked as an aide. He helped the people who lived at the assisted living home.

Today Carl poked his head into Room 114 and smiled. "Good morning, Mrs. Lerner," he said. "Are you ready for breakfast? I'm here with your ride."

칼은 보좌관으로 일했습니다. 그는 요양원에 사는 사람들을 도왔습니다.

오늘 칼은 114호실에 머리를 내밀고 미소를 지었습니다. "좋은 아침입니다, 러너 부인." 그가 말했다. "아침 식사 준비됐나요? 제가 당신의 이동에 함께 하려고 여기에 왔어요."

The dining room was noisy that morning. Carl quickly made a space for Mrs. Lerner at one of the tables.
Then he brought her a tray of oatmeal, toast, and blackberries.

"I'll be back for you in a while,"
Carl promised.

그날 아침 식당은 시끄러웠다. 칼은 재빨리 테이블 중 하나에 러너 부인을 위한 자리를 마련해 주었습니다.
그런 다음 그는 그녀에게 오트밀, 토스트, 블랙베리가 담긴 쟁반을 가져왔습니다.

On his way down the hall, Carl heard Mr. Ruiz call out, "Carl, come in here."

"What is it?" asked Carl.

"I can't get this shirt buttoned," said Mr. Ruiz.

"Here," Carl said, "let me help you with that."

복도를 내려가는 길에 Carl은 Ruiz 씨가 "Carl, 이리로 들어오세요"라고 부르는 것을 들었습니다.

"이게 뭐죠?" 칼이 물었다.

"저는 이 셔츠의 단추를 채울 수 없습니다"라고 Ruiz 씨는 말했습니다.

"자," Carl이 말했습니다. "그건 제가 도와드리겠습니다."

Carl's next stop was Mrs. Wilson's room. "Good news!" Carl said. "Your granddaughter sent you a package."

"Is it heavy?" Mrs. Wilson asked.

"No, it's small and light," Carl said.
"Would you like me to open it?"

"If you're not in a hurry." Mrs. Wilson said.

Carl이 다음으로 간 곳은 Wilson 부인의 방이었습니다. "좋은 소식!" 칼이 말했다. "당신의 손녀가 당신에게 소포를 보냈습니다."

"무거워요?" 윌슨 부인이 물었다.

"아니요, 작고 가벼워요." 칼이 말했습니다.
"내가 열어드릴까요?"

"급하지 않다면." 윌슨 부인이 말했습니다.

It was time to get Mrs. Lerner from the dining room. She would want to go outside on a morning like this. It was sunny and warm, and the roses were budding.

"I have an idea," said Carl. "Let's take our book outside today. I'll read the next chapter to you."

"What are you doing?" Carl asked.

"Nothing," said Mr. Henley.

"Wonderful," Carl said. "That means you have time to do your exercises."

"Did you trick me?" Mr. Henley asked.

Carl grinned. "It will help your leg heal."

이제 Lerner 부인을 식당에서 데려올 시간이었습니다. 이런 아침이면 그녀는 밖으로 나가고 싶을 것이다. 화창하고 따뜻했고, 장미가 싹을 틔웠습니다.

"내게 좋은 생각이 있어요." 칼이 말했다. "오늘은 책을 밖으로 가져가자. 다음 장을 읽어줄게."

At 3:00, it was almost time for Carl to go home. He finished his paperwork.
Then he said hello to the aides coming in to work.

It had been a good day, Carl decided.
As he walked out the front of the building, he waved to everyone. "I'll see you all tomorrow!" he called.

3시가 되면 Carl이 집에 갈 시간이 거의 다 되었습니다. 그는 서류 작업을 마쳤습니다.
그리고는 출근하는 보좌관들에게 인사를 했습니다.

오늘은 좋은 하루였다고 Carl은 결정했다.
그는 건물 앞으로 나가면서 모두에게 손을 흔들었습니다. "내일 모두 만나요!" 그가 외쳤어요.
